Jo Grindley - Director

After a 10 year career with Lloyds International as a Foreign Exchange dealer and International Business Marketing Manager, Jo Grindley started the company in 2000 having retired from competing on the World Match Race Circuit with Double Olympic Gold medallist, Shirley Robertson.

The team were ranked number one in the world, were members of the British Sailing Team funded by UK Sport. Jo built the company to have an impressive list of clientele, combining her background in marketing, TV, journalism and top-level sailing.

Carlene Willams - Account Manager

Carlene joins Into the blue after nearly four years at the Isle of Wight Economic Partnership. She leaves her position in their busy marketing and communications team where her focus has been on developing the new Isle of Wight brand, the sponsorship and promotional materials to support it, as well as managing their events.

Prior to this Carlene worked overseas for 6 years as a project manager, based out of the Bahamas.
Carlene loves most sports, is a keen sailor and a member of the Royal Solent Yacht Club, Yarmouth

Sarah Branson - PR Consultant

Sarah Branson, formerly Sarah Mudie, has over 15 years experience in PR, Marketing and Sponsorship as a freelancer in the sports sector. From 2001 – 2004, Sarah worked at the centre of the PR and sponsorship associated with Skandia Cowes Week.

Previous marketing and PR projects have included working with the Fortuna Whitbread Round the World Race Campaign, Blakes Marine Paints, Eterna watch range and the John Merricks Sailing Trust Campaign Manager

Sarah is a highly motivated, creative individual with an excellent capacity for communication at every level.

Lucy Harwood - Account Manager

Lucy has a BA Hons in Communication from Bournemouth University and brings skills in modern media communication such as websites and podcasts. Lucy joined Into the blue after three years with Offshore Challenges (now OC Group).
She left her position as PA to Ellen MacArthur and as media coordinator specifically working on the award winning B&Q sponsorship project.  Key projects included Ellen's solo record breaking voyage around the world in 2005, The Asian Record Circuit, various record breaking attempts, and managing corporate hospitality events in France and UK. 

Lucy also assisted OC Group in other areas of communication including sponsorship and event portfolio management, working on events such as The Transat with partners such as BT, G.H. Mumm Champagne, Sony, Bollé, Musto and Omega.

Helen King – Account Manager

Helen’s event management skills and attention to detail are second to none. She spent five years working for Offshore Challenge’s as a Project Coordinator to Ellen MacArthur and Nick Moloney’s Vendée Globe and Jules Verne record campaigns, Helen was also responsible for the general management of the business and helped to forsee the growth of Offshore Challenges (now OC Group) from 4 to 35 employees. She also assisted OC Group in race communications, Sponsor liaison, Marketing, logistics and was the Project Manager for Ellen MacArthur’s campaign to highlight the plight of the endangered Albatross on the remote island of South Georgia.

Helen has a BSC Hons in Maritime Environmental Management and is currently managing Volvo Cars UK Eco Challenge for 2008 and the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships for Volvo Event Management.

Gail Willows - Press Officer

Gail joins Into the blue after two years managing the PR and marketing activities at the IW Economic Partnership.  Gail’s vast experience also includes working as Marketing Coordinator at UK Sailing Academy, this involved managing the new product launches, marketing materials and customer service.  Additionally, Gail spent a year in Australia developing the UKSA brand in a new market.

Gail has a Bsc (Hons) Economics and Management, from Southampton University, and is currently working towards a Foundation Degree in Graphic Design.  Gail has always been a keen sailor, and as a qualified RYA Dinghy Instructor she enjoys teaching others how to sail, and in her free time sails a RS400.

Daniel Wilkinson- Senior Account Executive

Dan joins Into the blue with a BA (hons) marketing degree and a broad knowledge of the marine industry. On completing his degree Dan joined the United Kingdom Sailing Academy’s busy marketing team, where he was involved in their extensive marketing campaign as well as organising UKSA events and activities.

Dan has recently come back from New Zealand after a short travel break and is keen to get involved in the sports marketing area of the marine industry

Cristina Belmonte - Account Assistant

Cristina joins Into the Blue with an International degree in Business Administration & Management from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Spain). She combined these studies with one year in the Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen (The Netherlands) and developed her thesis about strategic management at the University of Michigan in 2006. Cristina became interested in sports PR and event managment after working on projects within the motor racing circuit of Valencia and more recently at the America's Cup as Event Assistant in the media centre.

Cristina speaks fluent Spanish, Catalan, English, and a little Dutch.

Corinna Haines – Multi Media Producer

Corinna has both a BA 1st class (hons) Video Production & Film Studies degree and an RYA Yachtmaster giving her valuable experience on both sides of the sailing camera. She has combined these skills to gain extensive experience in various project roles including producer, director, camera operator, floor manager and editor. One exciting venture included working as a camera assistant during the Americas Cup.

Corinna is now responsible for producing and editing a number of Into the blue’s media productions, including Team Volvo for life and Mike Golding Ecover Vodcasts.

We are currently seeking two enthusiast people to join our busy team

Account Executive 
Full-time position to help co-ordinate all PR and marketing and event management activities. Areas will include writing event reports, press releases, collating press features and values, editing podcasts, updating clients’ websites and supporting events. 
Good written English, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Salary according to experience.


Office Administrator/Manager – Part Time
Into the blue is also looking for an Office Administrator. The successful candidate will have experience dealing with accounts and a knowledge of SAGE and HR would be beneficial.
The role will involve managing the day to day demands of a busy office. Good communication and organisational skills are essential.
Salary according to experience.
Total of 12 hours per week.
